Parish Lenten Retreat
Led by Sr. Mary White, OSB of St. Paul Moastery

When: Saturday/Sunday, March 3/4 Introduction at all Masses
Mon, March 5, Praying from the Heart of Mystery
Same talk at 8:30-10:00 am and 7:00-8:30 pm
Deep prayer is like a blossoming tree. It blossoms from a deep and
immediate contact with Life, the Indwelling Divine. The fruits of
prayer are intimately connected with the Paschal Mystery which we
honor with intensity during this season of Lent. We will explore
ways to identify true prayer in our life and some practices that can
open to true inner peace and serenity.

Tues, March 6 Living from the Heart of Eucharist
Same talk at 8:30 am and 7:00 pm
The Eucharist is a celebration of our gratitude to have been chosen
to be the Body and Blood of Christ in our hungry world. We will
explore the teachings of the Catholic Church and the words of ancient
and modern prophets for inspiration and a renewal of our commitment
to carry the Eucharist from the sanctuary into our daily lives.
Reading for Others
Lumen Christi Social Justice Book Club

When: Monday, March 12, 7:00 pm
Where: First Floor Conference Room
Who: Everyone invited. Please join us for the discussion
Ms Regan, who writes for the Tucson Weekly, has won a dozen journalism awards for her border reporting, including two national prizes.

This Book presents a series of intimate stories from immigrants, activists, human rights workers, and border patrol people. Through their stories, the book explores the ethical, moral, and spiritual challenges presented by the complex immigration issues on the border, evoking our human response, rather than a political or policy debate. Regan calls us to the religious act of bearing witness to brutality and despair along with extraordinary courage and commitment.

Books on reserve at Barnes and Noble. Tell them it is for the Lumen Christi Book Club. Any questions call Mary Kay Brinkmeyer at 651-690-3130.

Soup Supper Conversations 2012
The Crucified Jesus Is No Stranger
The Gospel of Mark and the Scandal of the Cross

Format of the Two Evenings: 6:00 p.m. ~ Soup Supper
6:30 p.m. ~ Presentation & Conversation
Location: The Community Room

Topics: Tuesday, March 13th ~ Mark’s Understanding of the Cross: Whose Mind Needs Changing?

Tuesday, March 20th ~ Redemption Was Already at the Beginning.
The Cross is What Holds the Middle.
The cross is the central icon for our faith. Its mystery shows Christians how to find meaning in all the ups and downs of human life. Three times in Mark’s Gospel Jesus makes it clear that the cross is his destiny, although it is always either misunderstood or outrightly rejected by the apostles themselves, just as you and I reject and fear any language of descent. You are invited to participate in two Lenten evening conversations with Father Paul where we can together discover the way of the cross as the interpretive key for the meaning of history and where it is all going.
